uPVC sliding sash windows are an ideal solution for heritage and conservation projects but can also work well in new developments. Combining the beauty and charm of traditional timber sash windows with the functionality and high performance of modern windows. Period properties are full of character, but traditional vertical sliding windows can have issues regarding heat retention commonly associated with them. Ill fitting timber frames and single glazed window panes can often lead to draughts and provide inadequate performance.
Traditional timber frames require regular maintenance, can be difficult to replace and are often expensive. Our uPVC sliding sash windows offer the classic lines and character of traditional timber frames coupled with the high performance of modern vertical sliding windows. Designed to stand up anything the British weather has without warping or cracking, you will benefit from their beautiful aesthetic, impressive functionality and high performing energy-efficiency. These benefits will last a long time without deterioration or discolouration.
Benefiting from the unique ‘Super-Slim’ mid-rail, measuring a mere 39mm, these windows secure a slimline aesthetic. Where previous uPVC sash window profiles needed a minimum of 52mm in order to have the necessary strength to support the top sash glazing and accommodate steel reinforcements, ours bypass this with an intelligent design.
This industry first advancement makes a dramatic difference to the overall aesthetic and leaves the Symphony virtually indistinguishable from the timber made original sash window. Allowing you to experience the benefits of modern windows whilst still impressing any conservation officer.
All the exquisite Bygone Symphony sash windows feature a new slimline integral mullion. The innovative addition reduces the bulkiness by more than 50mm. This preserves the splendid proportions of original wooden sash windows, recreating the elegance for modern living in any property.
The Bygone Symphony classic period look is completed with the fitting of stainless steel cam catches and face fixed keeps, either as a pair or individually. The cams are securely fastened to the window so they cannot be forced apart, whilst each keep has a special nylon insert to protect the claw.
These features provide you with a choice of decorative motifs; Acorn, Beehive and exclusively for the Symphony windows a special Porcelain Ball. Another feature of the Bygone range are a pair of recessed limit stops which do not protrude from the surface of the sash until opened, ensuring a beautifully subtle finish.
Traditional timber sash windows have been made for hundreds of years with vertical joints. To replicate this with uPVC is a challenge, however every corner on Symphony windows has traditional vertical joints. This is yet another clever touch that allows these windows to achieve the perfect authentic aesthetic.
